Cultural Association of Kladá: Events for the 50th Anniversary of the Turkish Invasion of Cyprus

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the tragic Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, the Cultural Association of Kladá expresses its solidarity with the struggling Cypriot people for a unified, independent, and free homeland, where the people can be masters of their own land. In this context, a series of events will be organized from July 14 to 17, 2024, under the title "50 Years of Memory - Struggles - Hope."

The main event will take place on July 16 and will include:

  • Participation of the Mayor of Morphou, Mr. Victor Hadjiavraam, from the twinned municipality with the Municipality of Sparta.
  • A speech by Professor Emeritus of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Mr. Andreas Voskos, originating from Pano Zotkea in Cyprus.
  • A performance of a commemorative dance drama and traditional dances and songs of Cyprus by the Dance Group of the University of Cyprus.
  • Traditional dances from the Peloponnese by the Dance Department of the Cultural Association of Kokkinorachi.

The events will conclude on Friday, July 19, with a musical gathering in the central square of Kladá.
